Heal(ing) Trauma Therapy

Counsellor/Therapist, Registered Psychotherapist, HBA, MPsy
Personally, I understand what it is like to grow up in a difficult family which resulted in much trauma. As a young adult, I made a series of problematic choices which included abusive relationships, alcohol and drug abuse, and general neglect of myself. I realized that my trauma was not my fault but healing from it, so that I no longer suffered and passed that suffering onto others, was my responsibility. My wellness journey has been long and hard fought, and continues today and will forever more. The work is necessary, as all healing is possible. My hope is to share both my personal and professional knowledge and experiences with others to help guide them on their own journeys towards their own healing.

Clear Minds Counselling

Counsellor/Therapist, RTC, Psychotherapist, Counseling Therapist, Psychologist, Registered Social Worker
From Our Founder Clear Minds Counselling was built around a simple idea: **therapy should create change.** Too often, people come to us after spending years understanding their struggles. They can tell us where a pattern came from, recognize that a reaction isn't helping them, and know exactly what they *should* be doing differently—yet when real life happens, the same response takes over. That isn't because they haven't tried hard enough. It's because understanding something consciously doesn't necessarily change what the brain and body have learned to do automatically. That's why we operate differently. At Clear Minds, our therapists don't rely on one approach or simply sit across from you and talk about the problem. We work **bottom up, top down and side to side**, using evidence-based, neuroscience-informed and experiential approaches to address thoughts and beliefs, nervous-system responses, unconscious patterns and learned reactions. We believe in creating experiences within therapy that allow clients to practice something different—not just understand something differently. We challenge patterns, build practical skills, regulate responses and help clients create new evidence that the brain can use to update what it has learned from the past. Our therapists have their own personalities, specialties and clinical approaches, but the philosophy behind Clear Minds remains consistent: **therapy should translate into real life.** Whether you're coming to us for individual, couples or family counselling, our goal isn't to keep you in therapy forever. It's to help you understand what's happening, change the patterns that are getting in your way, and develop skills you can continue using long after you leave our office. **You don't have to keep repeating the same patterns.** Maybe you're ready for something different. Caregiving can be deeply meaningful, but it can also be exhausting in ways that are hard to explain. You may find yourself becoming the decision-maker for a parent or partner - stepping into a reversal of roles while navigating an uncertain future. This comes with emotions you didn’t expect: guilt, anger, fear, even resentment. None of them mean you love any less. Maybe caregiving isn’t your story. Maybe it’s a loss you’re still carrying, burnout that crept up while you were busy being reliable, or an identity shifting under your feet. Grief doesn’t always wait for a physical loss. We grieve people who are still with us, versions of ourselves we’ve outgrown, lives we thought we’d be living by now. Naming what’s shared can help you feel less alone. Honouring what’s yours is how you feel understood. That’s the balance I’ve built my practice around - evidence-based psychotherapy, attuned to your circumstances, your relationships, and your lived experience
