Psychotherapy should be more than identifying symptoms and applying a one-size-fits-all method. My approach is collaborative and integrative, grounded in a holistic assessment that sees you in the full context of your life. That means paying close attention to your experiences, creating a mutual understanding of where the pain lies, and developing the insights and skills that will empower you to move forward toward the relationships and goals that matter most to you. I bring decades of experience as a social worker and psychotherapist working with diverse clients and cultures, and offer a warm, non-judgmental space where real and lasting change becomes possible.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: Providing a kind, actively engaged, and non-judgmental space is a major part of my practice. My practice has a solid grounding in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, an evidence-based approach that is effective for depression, worry-based anxiety, social anxiety, and panic attacks. I've also completed training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a type of therapy that helps clients change their relationship to their suffering, unhook from distressing feelings and thoughts, and grow their capacity to engage in what they care about, even in the midst of difficult experiences.

I bring 25 years of experience as a registered social worker, 9 of which practicing individual psychotherapy. My clients present with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, relationship and communication issues, caregiver stress, and difficulty coping with a variety of transitional periods (e.g., transitioning off or back to work, relationship changes, bereavement, and retirement). My practice also provides caregiver counselling as a specialty based on decades of experience helping caregivers navigate the health system, reduce stress, cope with early or anticipatory grief, and problem-solve through complex ethical decision-making. Creating a non-judgmental, warm, and empathetic space where competent care can be accessed is the heart of my practice. Meeting you where you are, understanding the specific challenges you face and helping you contact your strengths, values, and the most effective and wise parts of yourself are core features of collaborative psychotherapy with me.
