One of the most confusing pieces of relationship advice I received was that I needed to heal before entering a relationship.
It sounded responsible at first. But it also left me wondering whether I was still too wounded, too complicated or too unfinished to experience healthy love.
Inner work is valuable, and there may be times when stepping away from dating is the safest and healthiest decision. But healing is not a finish line we cross before we become worthy of connection.
Some of our fears, attachment patterns and unmet needs only become visible when we grow close to another person.
A relationship cannot rescue us or do our inner work for us. But a safe relationship can give us opportunities to practise communication, boundaries, accountability, repair and receiving care differently.
You are allowed to be a work in progress and still experience love.
