Treatment Approach

  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Hypnotherapy Uses guided relaxation and focus to access the subconscious mind. It is often used for habits, anxiety, and pain management.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.

Approach Description: My primary training is Human Givens therapy. I have additional training in CBT-I for sleep difficulties, ADHD, IFS Circles, DBT. I am also a ICF accredited Life Coach allowing me to meet you where you are with regards to the most affective methods from coaching and therapy. Human Givens therapy is an integrative and solution-focused approach that blends the most effective elements and techniques from several different therapeutic models. It does not rely on a single model but rather tailors interventions using a flexible framework based on an understanding of innate human physical and emotional needs. Key therapies and techniques drawn upon include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Techniques for changing unhelpful thought patterns. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy: An emphasis on practical, forward-focused solutions rather than dwelling on the past. Interpersonal Therapy (IPT): Focus on improving communication and relationships to meet social and emotional needs. Motivational Interviewing: Methods for engaging clients and encouraging change. Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP): Specific techniques such as the Rewind Technique for safely and quickly addressing trauma and phobias without requiring the client to go into detail about the traumatic events. Psychoeducation: Educating clients about their condition and how the brain works to help them understand their experiences. Hypnotherapy and Guided Imagery: Used to induce deep relaxation, rehearse new behaviors, and access resources. Mindfulness: Techniques for calming the nervous system and shifting perspective. By combining these proven methods within a holistic framework, Human Givens therapists aim to help individuals meet their innate needs and use their internal resources more effectively, often achieving significant progress in a short number of sessions.
