I’ve always been drawn to the emotional undercurrent—the part of life that hums beneath the surface while everyone else is busy pretending it’s not there. For years, I didn’t have the language for my sensitivity or the intensity of my inner world; I just knew I felt things deeply and carried them quietly. Eventually I learned that depth isn’t a flaw—it’s a compass. My work now is about helping people tune into that inner terrain with more clarity, compassion, and curiosity. I don’t believe in pushing past your limits or forcing insights before you’re ready. I believe in slow noticing, honest reflection, and creating a space where nothing has to be performed. If you’re someone who thinks a lot, feels a lot, masks a lot, or has spent years minimizing what actually hurts—I offer a place where your experience can finally land. Not polished. Not rushed. Just real. (And yes, we can laugh when things get too intense. A little wry humour goes a long way.)

Treatment Approach

  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My work is rooted in relational, experiential, and somatic awareness, drawing from Gestalt therapy, trauma-informed practice, and a deep respect for the nervous system. Rather than focusing only on what you think, we pay attention to how you feel, how your body responds, and what your patterns reveal about the life you’ve had to survive. We slow down enough to notice what usually gets ignored: tension, emotion, impulses, beliefs, or the subtle ways you disconnect from yourself when things get hard. From there, we work collaboratively to understand what those responses are protecting, what they’re asking for, and how to create more room for choice instead of automatic reactions. I offer reflection, gentle challenge, humour when it helps, and space for the parts of you that rarely get airtime. Together we build awareness that leads to more grounded presence—internally and in your relationships. The goal isn’t perfection or constant calm. It’s capacity. It’s clarity. It’s connection. It’s becoming someone who can meet their own experience without bracing for impact.

Michelle Hannah Practice Description
My practice is designed for people who live with a rich inner world—sometimes overwhelming, sometimes beautiful, often both at the same time. Many of my clients are sensitive, introspective, and carrying more emotional weight than anyone around them realizes. They’re thoughtful, responsible, perceptive…and exhausted. You might be juggling burnout, anxiety, emotional overload, identity shifts, old patterns in relationships, or the feeling that you’re “too much” on the inside while trying to look composed on the outside. You might be navigating neurodivergence, chronic stress, or the long-term effects of pushing yourself through life without enough support. Or you might simply know that something in you wants to change, even if you can’t name what yet. My approach is relational and grounded. I’m here to listen closely, reflect honestly, and help you make sense of what’s happening inside you—with a pace and depth that feels spacious rather than overwhelming. I pay attention to your emotions, your thoughts, your nervous system, and the subtle ways your body speaks before words arrive. We explore patterns gently but directly, and we welcome nuance instead of shutting it down. Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes or inspirational slogans. It’s about building awareness, connection, and capacity—so your life feels more like something you inhabit rather than something you endure. I work with adults in person in Toronto and online across Ontario. Sessions feel calm, steady, and collaborative. You don’t have to come in with everything figured out. Just bring yourself as you are—messy edges, uncertainties, overthinking and all. I’ll meet you there.
