We can get to know these parts with compassion, helping them soften so you can access more calm, clarity, and balance. Please see any of the other entries. Stress is such a word that sometimes does a lot of heavy lifting in our world. Stress can mean brief experiences of sensory or cognitive overload, or could be an expression of anxiety, other health challenge impacting mental health. It could result from just not having language or a sense of space where one is accepted and can belong available to talk about one's challenge. Generally, if it's not CPTSD related there are lots of great ways to sort through overload and growth with working with inner feelings. If it's CPTSD and DID or other CPTSD based, parts work or other neurodevelopmentally supportive care might help. If it's oppression based or chronic health based, then it may help to share about the situation and find ways that are less taxing, require less masking, etc. to move through a situation or be at peace in it. Stress can sometimes mask grief. Our hegemonic culture has not developed or has even discarded tools for working with grief. So sometimes stress can be indicator that grief work is helpful. Also, a very real factor is disaster capitalism -- giving people a place to be real about that and its multiple devastating impacts is often very helpful. Sometimes it can open up new creative ways of addressing the challenge and finding agency that might have been inaccessible before. Sometimes there is just a need to mourn the challenges with other compassionate folks to feel less alone. Sometimes its about family or cultural conditioning to prove and succeed in an automated way, that discards the realm of emotions that unfortunately can't be stuffed or wedged out forever, as they are a useful gauge for inner and broader conditions when worked with constructively. Stress could be resultant from conditions not listed here, like being an overextended caregiver, etc. or stepping into one's first big art/creative event... If you're feeling stress, please feel free to reach out and ask for help!

Marianna Trezza -The Growing mindset
Counsellor/Therapist, MA (Hons), Adv Dip. Counsel. & Psychoth.,Dip. Hypnoth., X-Cultural Adaptation Coun. Reg. BACP 572613
For many women living abroad, stress is not only caused by work, responsibilities or daily pressures.
Sometimes it comes from years of constant adaptation.
Adapting to new countries.
New languages.
New cultural expectations.
New versions of oneself.
Many Italian women abroad become highly skilled at functioning while internally remaining in a subtle but ongoing state of alertness.
Monitoring how they speak.
How they are perceived.
How much space they take up.
How much they need to adapt in order to belong.
Over time, this continuous self-monitoring can place significant strain on the nervous system and body.
Many women begin to experience emotional exhaustion, tension, overwhelm, difficulty relaxing, chronic anxiety or the feeling of always having to “hold everything together”.
My work explores the deeper emotional and nervous system patterns underneath chronic stress, over-functioning and long-term emotional adaptation.
I integrate psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, embodiment, EFT, lifestyle medicine, reflective dialogue and nature-based practices to support women in reconnecting with a greater sense of regulation, authenticity, inner rhythm and emotional ease.

We will work together to bring awareness to what is causing stress, looking at both internal factors – such as patterns of thought and behaviours – and external factors – such as work and financial. Therapist, MA, MSc, UKCP, MBACP
If you find yourself feeling stressed - and this is your constant state- then welcome. I look forward helping you develop flexibility in your nervous system by recalling, or finding for the first time, what it's like to work, play, and relate from a *different place*. One that is a bit more adaptive and less painful. Chronic adrenal response, activation, fight-flight and 'always-on' takes a massive toll on your body and mind- and it's not a fun way to live. Let's find together ways to help you cope, the changes you may want to put in place, and most importantly, the felt- sense of something other than stress.

Saffron Marriner
Counsellor/Therapist, MBACP (Accred)
An integrative humanistic approach to stress management involves establishing a safe and supportive counselling environment where my clients feel heard and understood, encouraging self-exploration regarding thoughts, feelings and behaviours to gain insight into your stressors, promoting self-compassion, incorporating practices such as mindfulness, meditation and relaxation exercises to address stress. A trauma-informed approach to stress-management also involves creating a safe environment, recognising trauma triggers - identifying and avoiding potential triggers that may exacerbate stress or trauma responses, offering clients choices in your treatment to encourage a sense of control and empowerment, building skills for resilience, teaching you coping skills and strategies to manage stress, ensuring consistent and reliable support throughout the therapeutic process - using mindfulness to help you stay present and reduce stress. Through somatic processing, addressing the physiological effects of stress and trauma on the body. Using CBT techniques to help clients identify and challenge harmful thought patterns and behaviours. Working in an integrative humanistic and trauma-informed way necessitates a deep understanding of my client's individual experiences and a commitment to providing empathic, holistic and empowering care. By combining the strengths of both of these approaches, I support my clients in managing stress and building resilience. This approach addresses both the immediate symptoms of stress and also promotes long-term healing and personal growth.

Since the sessions with Tamzin I have found it much easier to put things in perspective, relax and leave things work-related at work when I come home at the end of the day. Her advice and supplementary techniques for dealing with stressful situations when they arise have also been invaluable. Thank you Tamzin!" (Amelia Blackmoore)

Karine Flynn
Psychologist, MSc, GMBPS
Chronic stress is the nervous system stuck in activation with nowhere to discharge. When the body has been running on high alert for long enough, it stops feeling like stress and starts feeling like personality - like just the way you are. Somatic work creates the conditions for the nervous system to finally down-regulate: not through relaxation techniques, but through completing the physiological cycles that chronic stress interrupts.

Ruth Mark-Roland Psychotherapy
Registered Psychotherapist, Post Grad Diploma in Psychotherapy, Foundation and Diploma in Group Analysis
I offer support for stress, including feeling overwhelmed, emotionally overloaded, burnt out, or unable to switch off. Stress can show up in many ways, such as constant mental pressure, irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep disruption, or a sense of always being “on edge” and unable to fully relax.
My approach is grounded in psychoanalytic and relational psychotherapy, offering a reflective and non-judgemental space to explore both current pressures and the underlying emotional patterns that may contribute to stress. Together, we may look at how early relational experiences, attachment patterns, and internal expectations can shape how you respond to demands, boundaries, and self-care.
I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising that chronic stress is often linked not only to external pressures, but also to deeper emotional dynamics such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, or difficulty recognising personal limits. Therapy can support you in understanding these patterns and developing more sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others.
I also integrate somatic awareness to help you notice how stress is held in the body, such as tension, restlessness, or fatigue, supporting greater regulation and grounding. Psychoeducation may be used to deepen understanding of stress responses, and where appropriate, I may incorporate EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques / tapping) to support emotional release and nervous system calming.
Therapy is collaborative and paced according to your needs, helping you develop greater resilience, balance, and capacity to manage life’s demands with more ease and self-compassion.

John Castleford
Registered Psychotherapist, MA, MIAEB, FRAI
Anxiety, Stress and Worry affects us all. We evolved to deal with occasional stressful threats--hence our "fight or flight" response. We did not evolve to deal with the increasing persistence and prevalence of stressful situations -- at home, in our communities, and workplaces. Anxiety about living with or after cancer invariably involves perceptions about what we imagine may happen. But the mind often has difficulty differentiating between what is real and what our imagination has created.
Fortunately there is a profusion of strategies for minimising stress and the effects of worry and anxiety, and my approaches involve building self-esteem up to previous levels, mindful mediation to enable you to take a step back from worrisome thoughts, rather than become subsumed by them, and helping you reorient locus of control so you are more in control of yourself, rather than delegating responsibility to external influences.

Adima Hawkes
Counsellor/Therapist, Psychotherapist, Spiritual Teacher, Gene Keys Guide, Trainer Tibetan Acupressure & Iridology
Stress is one of, if not the main, reasons for disease of body and mind. It can be addressed in online sessions, and also very effectively in-person with the body energy work of Tibetan Pulsing. First one needs to sort out and clearly see and acknowledge one's stress patterns and drivers. This is a great place for an (online) Iridology session - the eye-reading of Tibetan Pulsing. When possible, it can be followed by the Tibetan Pulsing body energy work, which is very effective for balancing stress patterns. Regulating stress is possible! The price it's asking is loss of control. Are you ready?!
