After decades of providing psychotherapy and assessment in offices, I’ve moved recently (2019) into a different space: video. Active listening in a safe, private setting is foundational to this work. My consultation The method of Prof. Dr. Nosssrat Peseschkian (known as positive transcultural psychotherapy) enables a holistic development of personality and society by linking the following three areas: 1. positive development in the narrower sense (mental and physical well-being of the individual). 2. positive development in a broader sense (connection between mental health, job, family, partnership, future (the "balance model" we call it in the sense of personality development) 3. positive development in a comprehensive sense (mental health through cooperation between different areas of life: science, politics, economy, society, worldview and religion. The Psychodynamic Positive Method is a depth-psychologically founded, resource-oriented and conflict-centred method from a transcultural perspective and was founded in 1968 by Prof. Dr. Nossrat Peseschkian.

Chicago, Illinois therapist: XaHara A. MeGod, licensed professional counselor
Serving Men

XaHara A. MeGod

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LCPC, R-DMT, CPT
A sacred space to heal the parts of you that words alone may not fully reach. Many people carry stress, trauma, and emotional pain not only in the mind, but within the nervous system and body itself. These experiences can quietly shape relationships, self-worth, emotional reactions, and the ability to feel safe, connected, or fully present in life. I offer compassionate, trauma-informed support for individuals and couples (including LGBTQIA+ and polyamorous partners) seeking deeper healing and meaningful change. As a somatic therapist, I integrate body-based therapy, mindfulness, and counseling into a holistic healing approach that serves your nervous system to help you process and reconnect your mind, body, and spirit. You will feel more grounded and empowered. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you’ve been carrying things on your own for a long time. Our work together will move at a pace that feels supportive, collaborative, and safe while honoring both your lived experience and your body’s natural wisdom for healing.

Clients who reside locally most often schedule in-person sessions. Other local clients can elect to blend in person and remote hypnotherapy sessions using Zoom. Clients who reside out of the immediate area or in another State will have all of their sessions using Zoom. To accommodate the online process, I use a HIPAA compliant version of Zoom to protect your privacy and confidentiality. If you are not familiar with Zoom, note that it is a free download that works splendidly with a cell phone, tablet, or laptop. Once you download Zoom, and before your first session, we will connect and practice a bit at no cost to you. My goal is to make the remote process both easy and comfortable for you. My online hypnotherapy services are identical in content to those I conduct in person. In that I pride myself as being an educator charged with teaching you a lifelong skillset, you will need to be able to receive and print email attachments. Lastly, especially for those who reside out of the area, payment is by way of PayPal.
