OCD can feel consuming—thoughts, urges, or rituals may take up significant mental and emotional energy, often leaving you frustrated, anxious, or exhausted. You might find yourself stuck in patterns that feel uncontrollable, or constantly trying to prevent worst-case scenarios, even when they don’t make sense to others.
In therapy, I provide a compassionate space to understand how OCD shows up in your life and work with you on strategies to manage intrusive thoughts, reduce compulsions, and regain a sense of control. The goal is to help you live more freely and confidently, without being ruled by fear or ritual.

OCD, or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, is a mental health condition characterized by persistent and intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions). The compulsions are performed in an attempt to alleviate anxiety caused by the obsessions, but they often provide only temporary relief and can interfere with daily life activities.
Symptoms of OCD can vary, but common obsessions include concerns about contamination, a need for order and symmetry, and intrusive, distressing thoughts. Compulsions may include excessive cleaning and hand-washing, repeated checking, counting, or organizing, and mental rituals.
OCD can have a significant impact on quality of life, but it is treatable. Effective treatments for OCD include a combination of psychotherapy, specifically Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with exposure and response prevention (ERP), and medication. If you or a loved one is struggling with OCD, it is important to seek help from a licensed mental health professional to receive a proper diagnosis and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

Rebecca Goldstein, TuneinTherapy, ADHD | Trauma | Autism
Registered Social Worker, RSW, MSW, MTA, BMT, FAMI
OCD is often far more exhausting and misunderstood than many people realize. It is not just about being organized or liking things a certain way — it can involve intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, anxiety, mental rituals, shame, and the constant pressure of trying to find certainty, relief, or safety.
For many people, OCD can overlap with trauma, neurodivergence, nervous system dysregulation, or deeper patterns of fear and self-doubt.
My approach is compassionate, practical, and grounded in helping you better understand what may be happening beneath the surface while building awareness, reducing shame, and strengthening healthier ways of responding. Together, we work toward creating more freedom, flexibility, and self-trust rather than staying trapped in cycles that feel exhausting and hard to break.

Registered Social Worker, MSW, RSW
OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is characterized by presence of obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are the unwanted intrusive thoughts and images that can include unwarranted concerns about a loved one dying in their sleep, disturbing vivid images of stabbing a person standing nearby, or worrying about having grabbed a used needle and injecting oneself with drugs without even being aware of having done so. Obsessions are all about uncertainty. Compulsions represent attempts at dealing with that uncertainty. Some compulsive behaviours appear to make at least some sense (e.g., being vigilant about wellbeing of others), while others don’t make any sense at all (e.g., counting to 100 each time a thought of potential harm comes to person’s mind). Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) protocol for OCD starts with building an inventory of obsessions and compulsions that the affected person engages in. This is followed by cognitive interventions that seek to understand and challenge the beliefs that underpin these symptoms. Many persons with OCD recognize the irrational nature of their thoughts and behaviours. So we use exposure response prevention (ERP) techniques that teach at a very visceral level that despite undeniable initial discomfort, letting go of one’s rituals does not lead to danger. It might not be the most comfortable treatment but, given its proven effectiveness, it’s worth the effort.

Anna Skomorovskaia (Sky)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, MSW, RSW, Psychotherapist
As a psychotherapist, I chose to work with OCD because I understand the significant impact that this condition can have on an individual's daily life. OCD is a complex disorder that involves intrusive and persistent thoughts, images, or impulses, which can cause distress and anxiety. These thoughts and impulses can lead to repetitive and ritualistic behaviors that interfere with an individual's ability to function in their daily life. I believe that through therapy, individuals can learn new coping strategies and develop a better understanding of their OCD symptoms. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify the underlying causes of their OCD and develop new ways of managing their symptoms. I am committed to providing a non-judgmental and supportive space where my clients can feel heard and understood, and I am dedicated to helping them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
