Kendall Matthews
Marriage and Family Therapist, MACFT, LMFTA
Long-term relationships aren’t meant to feel dull, distant, or purely logistical. If you’re finding yourselves caught in the same arguments, drifting into parallel lives, or feeling worn down by stress and change, you’re not alone. Maybe something big has shifted or maybe the disconnection crept in quietly. You still care deeply, but “getting by” isn’t the relationship you want.

I've been serving clients for 10 years by video & phone sessions. In addition to health-related concerns, remote teletherapy can be just the right step for some other life situations.
If you've never seen a counselor by video before, your related concerns are understandable. In counseling, the term we use is "fit" -- describes when a particular counselor & setting feel 'just right' for you.

Since the pandemic shook our world and the experience of how we connect with others, I have been practicing remotely. I have found that teletherapy has been as effective as meeting in person in terms of relationship building, creating a safe space, and communicating openly, honestly, and directly. For many clients with busy lives, online therapy reduces the obstacles of travel, traffic, and parking, and provides a simple way of managing billing/payment.

I prefer one-on-one in-person therapy, however I have found that numerous types of online therapy can also be useful and beneficial. Since there are numerous ways of doing online therapy we can talk about what your preference is and work out something acceptable. The Coronavirus precautions have helped facilitate these technologies and we might as well take advantage of them.
