Charlie Young

Counsellor/Therapist, RCC #22791
I'm a queer and trans RCC providing virtual therapy across BC, specializing in gender-affirming care, hormone readiness assessments, and identity exploration. Many people come for transition support and readiness letters; others for trauma, depression, anxiety, BPD, anger, or bipolar — any topic is welcome, and you can bring something specific or start with the sense that something is off and we'll work it out from there. Often our environments don't support us the way we need them to, and I help name that context rather than treating it as a problem arising within you. Sessions are 50 minutes by secure video, longer sessions available, and I'll use your name and pronouns from our first contact. Hormone readiness assessments are $300 — some prescribers require a letter and many in BC do not, so check with yours before booking, and during the free 15-minute consult we'll talk about what brings you to counselling and how I can help.

Samira Gholami

Counsellor/Therapist, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor
Everyone deserves to feel accepted, respected, and comfortable being their authentic self. Yet navigating sexual orientation, gender identity, relationships, or questions of belonging can sometimes feel complicated, particularly when family expectations, cultural traditions, or societal pressures make it difficult to express who you truly are. You may be exploring your identity, considering coming out, experiencing discrimination, or struggling to find acceptance and understanding in your relationships. As a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC), I offer compassionate, LGBTQ+ affirming counselling for adolescents and adults seeking a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore their experiences. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in respect for each person's identity, autonomy, and lived experiences. My professional development includes training in supporting transgender and gender-diverse youth, strengthening my awareness of the unique challenges LGBTQ+ individuals may encounter. I recognize that experiences of identity and belonging can be deeply influenced by family dynamics, cultural backgrounds, community relationships, and personal beliefs. Together, we can explore concerns related to self-acceptance, anxiety, relationships, family conflict, identity development, discrimination, and emotional well-being. Whether you're questioning aspects of your identity or simply looking for a counsellor who respects and understands your experiences, our work will be guided by your needs, values, and goals. You should never feel pressured to disclose, explain, or change who you are before you're ready. My goal is to provide a welcoming environment where you can strengthen your confidence, develop healthy boundaries, and build meaningful connections while remaining true to yourself. I offer affordable counselling in English and Farsi and would welcome the opportunity to support you in navigating life's challenges with greater self-compassion, confidence, and authenticity.

Richmond, British Columbia therapist: Ajay Sahota, counselor/therapist
LGBTQ+

Ajay Sahota

Counsellor/Therapist, MA, RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor)
LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, +) persons may encounter specific challenges (e.g., oppression and discrimination) related to their sexual orientation. These challenges may include norms and beliefs of family members, friends, church, and cultural customs. Social and cultural norms sometimes conflict with your own values, that of other cultures you belong to, and a sense of who you are. Some communities maintain entrenched beliefs and stereotypes of LGBTQ+ persons. In those cases, there may be resistance to accept you because you do not meet certain cultural expectations. As a result, a LGBTQ+ person may feel shame, and low self-esteem and self-worth. These feelings can lead to depression and anxiety and you may withdraw from others to protect yourself from hurt and feel lonely at the same time. When you grow up around negative attitudes or discrimination against a group people for their sexuality or gender, it may also be difficult to accept and express yourself for who you truly are. You may find it difficult to be curious about, and explore, your sexuality and identity. As a South Asian born man (he/him) in a second-generation immigrant family in Canada, I understand some of the complexities of culture, sexuality, and gender expression. I am excited to support you on this journey. I celebrate and stand with you as a LGBTQ+ person.

Chris Graham

Psychologist, Registered Psychologist
I enjoy working with folks who are curious to explore their gender identity and expression, curious about transition, or contemplating their sexuality. I have worked with folks as they consider transitioning, provided referrals for folks to begin hormone replacement therapies and gender affirming surgeries, and made sense of the way gender works for them. I have enjoyed holding space for folks considering their sexuality identities, making sense of the types of sex they would like to have and the identities they would like to hold. Book your free 20 minute meet & greet today to see if I might be able to support you navigate your LGBT concerns.
