Michael Klinkner

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
Making changes can be very difficult. I believe that therapy is about finding the inner strengths inside of yourself that can allow you to become the person you want to be. Whether you are healing from wounds from your past or looking to write a new future, change is possible. No two people go through this process in the same way, everyone's journey is very unique. I have been working with children, teens and adults with a variety of issues for over 20 years. I have in depth experience with anxiety, trauma and depression along with the ways that those issues can affect the members of their family. I have worked in residential treatment, behavioral health hospitals and outpatient settings. In the beginning, starting to change can seem overwhelming and maybe even impossible. I use approaches that embrace the idea that everyone is different and everyone can just with the right approach to the problem.

Inner Compass Psychotherapy

Therapist, Group Practice | Clinical Director: Nora Katz, LCSW
Inner Compass Psychotherapy is a group practice of therapists in San Diego, led by our founder and clinical director, Nora Katz, LCSW. When you reach out, we listen first and then match you with the clinician on our team who fits what you need. Many people who find us look fine from the outside. They are capable, busy, and good at taking care of everyone else, yet something underneath feels off: anxiety that will not settle, a low mood that lingers, a relationship stuck in the same argument, or a life change that has shaken the ground. We take the time to understand what is actually going on, not just the symptoms. Therapy here is collaborative and unhurried, and it should feel personal from the very first call. Our team: Nora Katz, LCSW 112300, founder and clinical director; Karina Rivera, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC 14780); Alyssa Zarske, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 158291); and Nikki Adhami, Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW 123351). Our associates are supervised by Nora Katz, LCSW 112300. Each of us has our own TherapyTribe profile if you would like to read more.

Erika Barrington

Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, BC-DMT
Hi! I’m Erika (they/them). I’m guided by curiosity, play, and the belief that there's always a reason why we act the way we do. Even if it doesn't make sense to us at first, I find that when I help clients explore their internal world with curiosity, we discover how resourceful and creative they had to be to get to this point. I also believe strongly that inside of us we embody a microcosm of larger systems around us. Once we bring awareness to these internal dynamics, we then have the opportunity to release and relearn ways to show up in the world that center our innate gifts and our connection to all living things. Social Location: I am a white, queer, genderqueer, neurodivergent, a non-gestational parent, and am not living with a physical disability right now. I hold awareness of the ways that my class privilege, college education, and white body privilege have shaped my experience of various mental health struggles and ADHD. I feel most excited about life when I’m doing something creative and intentional with people (line dancing, singing, making collages) and most aligned with my purpose when I’m helping adults to play/move/create as part of their healing/recovery.

Donna M Torbico - HEAL & GROW for ACoAs

Counselor/Therapist, Recovery Therapist in Private Practice 40 years
FREE INTRO Session - to see if we're a good fit. My main focus is working with ACAs - adults who were raised in an alcoholic / narcissistic family. The long-term goal is to uncover your True Self, develop a Loving Parent voice, heal the Wounded Child, & encourage the Healthy Child to shine. Together we identify the harsh beliefs you absorbed from your family, school & religion, and work on transforming them into positive do-able ‘rules’ to live by. EXP: “I know what I know”, “I have a right to my needs”, “”There’s no such thing as perfect”….. I also provide a safe place for you to experience painful or joyful emotions you weren't allowed to feel growing up. ACA Recovery work is about facing the reality of early damage, and working to overcome the after-effects. “Trying to flourish in an atmosphere of criticism is like trying to get sober in a bar.”

Jordan Dye - Prepared Acceptance

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, EMT
You spend your days showing up for everyone else. It’s okay to have a space where you don't have to be the "strong one." Whether you are a healthcare provider, an educator, a first responder, or military personnel, your work is more than a job—it’s a service. You’re trained to stay composed in the face of chaos and to put the needs of others above your own. But over time, that selflessness can lead to exhaustion and burnout, where you feel "poured out" and disconnected from yourself and those you care about most. As an EMT, a National Guard Soldier, and experience working in the Emergency Department and the school system, I have some understanding about the environment you work in. I am here to support you through learning skills and techniques to work with and through your challenges. We’ll work together to address the burnout, the high-functioning anxiety, and the toll that "always being on" takes on your personal life. My goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you reclaim the energy and perspective you’ve given away to your work.

Maricia Thompson

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
I am a New York based LCSW with a passion and a vigor for helping others on their mental health journey. My therapy approach comes from a place of compassion where one of my main goals is making sure my client feel as supported, heard and empowered as possible. Therapy is not a one size fits all and the approach used with each client individually should reflect this. I help each client articulate their thoughts and feelings in order to get a better understanding of what is causing their depression/anxiety/stress/unhappiness. I approach therapy from an integrative perspective, taking interest in the clients cultural background and experiences and tailoring a therapeutic modality that is the best fit for them. Just like therapy, healing is also not a one size fits all and I understand that making the first steps into therapy, and towards that healing, may have been a difficult decision and I applaud your courage for making that first step. With your desire for change and my commitment to support and empower you, we will navigate a pace that works best for you to strengthen all aspects of your body and mind and the connection they have to each other.

I believe in therapy as a collaborative process in which I meet my clients where they are at and provide support while they navigate all of the ever-changing aspects of their lives. I recognize that each individual has a unique set of experiences that have led them to who they are today.
