When You’ve Been Carrying Too Much for Too Long

Kim David

Sometimes people come to therapy not because one terrible thing has happened, but because too many things have begun to pile up from carrying too much for too long.

They have continued working, caring for other people, making decisions, managing relationships and doing what needs to be done. From the outside, life may even look reasonably intact. But somewhere along the way, the weight of carrying everything begins to take a toll.

The difficulty is not always knowing what to put down. Sometimes it is not knowing where it would be safe to put anything down at all.
