Finding Happiness in the Face of Life’s Uncertainties

An incident from my early childhood on my parents’ small farm left a lasting impression on me about the fragility and preciousness of life.

A family friend, in a moment of recklessness or curiosity, fired a .22 rifle, narrowly missing me, a mere 6-month-old baby sleeping peacefully in my cot. This brush with danger underscored for me how life can change in an instant.

This near-miss begs the question: What does this have to do with finding happiness? To me, it’s deeply connected. Life’s unpredictability teaches us the value of focusing on what truly matters, and often, it’s the relationships we build and maintain that bring us the most joy.

As a relationship mentor based in the serene town of Havelock North, New Zealand, I’ve dedicated my life to guiding individuals towards finding their happiness, whether they come to me in person or connect online.

Despite my generally calm and peaceful demeanor, I, too, have moments of deviation from this state. In these times, I remind myself of the importance of returning to a natural state of happiness.

My professional satisfaction comes from sharing insights on social media and working with clients worldwide. I assist people in overcoming challenges related to anxiety, sadness, depression, relationships, business, and other life struggles, helping them on their journey to happiness.

You might think that I have a simple formula for happiness, but the truth is more complex. Just as I practiced tirelessly to excel in competitive squash, finding consistent happiness required the same dedication and practice. During my childhood, after moving from the farm to an orchard, I faced challenges in fitting in and finding acceptance, leading to periods of unhappiness. I sought solace in sports and achievements but soon realized that true happiness couldn’t be found in external sources alone.

My journey to happiness truly began when I transitioned from horticulture to sales and sales management. Despite achieving professional success, happiness eluded me. I turned to books and personal development resources, but it was clear that knowledge alone wasn’t the answer.

A turning point came when I lost my corporate job and was forced to reassess my life. This moment of crisis led me to discover my passion for portrait photography and later, a deeper understanding of the art of happiness. I learned that happiness, much like photography, involves understanding and manipulating the light within us. This realization transformed my approach to life and happiness.

Throughout my career, from managing a large sales team to becoming a therapist, I’ve learned that happiness comes from within. It’s about focusing on our internal state of being and choosing how we react to life’s events. Just like we choose how to interpret the colors in a photograph, we can choose how to interpret our emotions and reactions.

My mission is to help others discover their inner light and harness it to live a life of happiness and fulfillment. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or simply feeling unfulfilled, my approach focuses on finding the best version of yourself and embracing it.

I invite you to explore this journey with me. If my story resonates with you and you’re looking to discover a breakthrough in happiness, I encourage you to reach out. Together, we can work towards unveiling the happiest and most powerful version of yourself and create a future filled with joy and satisfaction.
