Grief is a deeply personal experience that does not follow a predictable path. My experience includes supporting individuals bereaved by suicide as well as those navigating other forms of loss and grief.

Dr. L. Pittman
Psychologist, Ph.D.
I have worked with individuals (primarily adults) to help them manage aspects of loss and grief (neither of which is limited to death of a loved one) that are significantly impacting their functioning and well-being. I work with them to process their loss, and identify what it means to embrace the significance of the loss without letting that loss define them.

Delphine Marina Psychotherapy and Counselling
Registered Psychotherapist, Diploma Soul Centred Psychotherapy; MA(R.es) Cultural Studies; GradDip IT & Politics; BA(Hons)Human
Grief is not just a response to death—it can arise after the loss of a relationship, health, identity, future dreams, or any part of life that held meaning. It may come in waves, or feel like a heavy fog that lingers longer than expected. In a world that often rushes healing, your grief deserves time, space, and compassion.
In therapy, we honour your loss without needing to fix or minimise it. We explore what the loss meant to you, how it’s shaped your inner world, and what it’s asking of you now. Together, we make space for sorrow, memory, love, and the slow return to meaning and wholeness.

Jill Deacon
Counsellor/Therapist, BSc and FdSc Person Centred Counselling. MBACP
We can sometimes feel overwhelmed by grief, by the loss of a loved one, relationship breakdown, loss of a beloved pet, ours or others' poor health, jobs and careers or financial security amongst other things. This can present as anger and shock, guilt, disbelief and deep sadness. These emotions can affect our physical health such as poor sleep, lack of appitite and our mental health such as depression. These are normal emotions and part of greiving and there is no one way to experience it or indeed a definitive time. Loss can be experienced for weeks or years.
Counselling can help you explore these feelings, understand them and work though them helping you acknowledge and accept the process you are going throught in a safe and gentle way.

Dr Jody Eiser

Grief is not something to be “fixed,” but something to be understood and carried in a way that feels more manageable over time. Through a trauma-informed lens and a focus on trauma endurance, I support individuals in navigating the emotional, relational, and identity shifts that often follow loss, allowing for integration rather than avoidance.

Benjamin Marr
Counsellor/Therapist, BA MA Relational Psychotherapist/ Birkbeck College - Psychodynamic Counsellor
There have been instances when clients have brought their grief to therapy that was causing them major pain and in such instances, these emotions can morph into quite overwhelming situations. The supportive and safe environment my relational psychotherapy practice offers can be effective in reducing such unrelenting feelings. With the correct sort of professional therapy available in my private practice and given the right amount of time, my clients recover from their specific feelings of loss and successfully adjusted to their next phase of life.
Naturally, each client’s experience with grief is equally unique and complex, as well as being personal. Grief may cover such aspects as the demise of a loved one or friend, or it could involve a life changing circumstance, such as a relational break-up, or even a job loss. The client’s culture, personality and past life-experiences may all affect their particular grieving process.
With my relational psychotherapy, I do my utmost to tailor each therapy programme to specifically meet each client’s particular needs. In many instances, one useful aim of my therapy service is to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of healthy connections with client’s circle of family and friends. Equally, many clients may find catharsis while talking about both their current and lost loved ones. Reflection on positive memories may strengthen client’s bond with the lost person.
This reaffirmation of the client’s bond may effectively reduce any possible “sting” from the loss felt. That said, every effort is taken by me to balance all attachments within therapy. In complicated grief, a client may feel hopeless and desire to join the lost loved one.
Another common goal with my relational psychotherapy is to facilitate the listening process. There are occasions when society may stigmatize the client for grieving in a certain way. However, my therapy approach is to assist the client to express their feelings without any form of judgment.

Loss and Grief are part and parcel of the human condition, personal and collective. However, when they come knocking our plans and expectations of a ‘normal’ life can go out of the window. How can we learn to be with this difficult guest? Francis Weller writes: “Grief is more than an emotion; it is also a faculty of being human. It is a skill that must be developed, or we will find ourselves migrating to the margins of our lives in hopes of avoiding the inevitable entanglements with loss. It is through the rites of grief that we are ripened as human beings. Grief invites gravity and depth into our world. We possess the profound capacity to metabolize sorrow into something medicinal for our soul and the soul of the community”. This requires that we are acknowledged and held, just as we hold and acknowledge those who we have lost.
