Asking for help is one of the most challenging things to do for ourselves, but it is one of the best ways of self-investing. When we physically do not feel well, we reach out to our doctors or nurses for support because we think that is normal. When we do not feel well mentally, it can give us a sense of not feeling normal, and while everyone's story is different, it is the same because we all have one.

Portland, Oregon therapist: Wendy Jensen LCSW, licensed clinical social worker
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Wendy Jensen LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Hypnotherapist, Diplomate Comprehensive Energy Psychology
My initiation into healing arts probably began as a child when I was blessed with experiencing a variety of paranormal events that helped me to learn and trust clairaudient and clairvoyant communication with spirit. My formal initiation began in 1996 in Portland, Oregon when I began studying Shamanic Healing though the Foundation For Shamanic Studies. I have trained with Sandra Ingerman in Soul Retrieval techniques and with several shamanic practitioners incorporating the healing energies of nature, doing divination work and teaching others to learn to do shamanic journey work. In 1998, I began training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). It was here, that I really began to understand how the body stores traumatic material subconsciously, that the physical body can manifest that stored material in physical and emotional disease and that the body can release that stored memory and it’s subsequent effects given the opportunity and assistance with proper techniques. In 1999, Wendy began training in Dynamic Energetic Healing™, a powerful protocol that encompasses a variety of healing modalities drawn from the Energy Psychology field. Energetic Healing focuses on helping clients to identify negative emotions, limiting beliefs and old traumas held in the energetic pathways of the body, explore the origins or root causes of these disturbances that may have occurred in current or past life or carried through on an ancestral linage and then release them. Since then I have studied and certified in a variety of Energy Pyschology techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique, Tapas Accupressure Technique, Healing from the Body Level Up, and many more. I am a Diplomate in Comprehensive Energy Psychology since 2004. In 2006 Wendy completed a 2 year intensive training with the Wellness Institute in Heart Centered Hypnotherapy. And in 2019, she completed the Essentials training in RIM (Regenerating Images in Memory) These trainings utilize the clients wise intuitive self along with guided prompts from the therapist to bring into consciousness, then clear and heal the past trauma memories still carried in the mind and body. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, a Master of Science degree in Social Work, Certifications in Hypnotherapy and Energy Psychology and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in private practice since 1995.

Portland, Oregon therapist: Chuck Chapman, counselor/therapist
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Chuck Chapman

Counselor/Therapist, LPC
From the outside, it may look like you have your life together—career, relationships, responsibilities—but inside it can feel like something is missing. You may feel disconnected from your partner, unsure of your purpose, or just tired of carrying everything alone. Many men come to me feeling like they have to choose between being strong and being emotionally present. They’ve spent years keeping the peace, pushing through discomfort, and avoiding conflict, hoping that effort alone would be enough. Yet despite doing everything “right,” they feel lonely, resentful, unseen, or misunderstood in the relationships that matter most. My work is about helping you step back into your life with presence, clarity, and confidence. I help men understand their emotional patterns, communicate from strength instead of defensiveness, and build connection without losing themselves. We will slow down the places where you feel stuck, uncover what you truly need, and develop the inner steadiness to lead yourself and your relationships well. I’m not here to fix you—you’re not broken. I’m here to walk with you as you learn how to show up with more courage, more honesty, and more connection. This is the work of becoming the man you were meant to be.

Portland, Oregon therapist: Brian Jones, licensed mental health counselor
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Brian Jones

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MEd, LMHC, LPC
Do you experience a lot of shame, anxiety, or trust issues? My main specialty is religious trauma, and whether you've experienced this kind of trauma or not, I work extensively with these sort of "trauma-adjacent" issues that affect people in their daily lives. Many folx grew up learning harmful lessons about themselves and their relationships, and now they're stuck in difficult patterns. I've been there, and I can help. Not all therapists understand what religious and childhood trauma is like, especially "lower-case 't' trauma" when you can't point to one single explanation for why something was harmful to you. A lot of religious trauma therapists are also Christian; this doesn't mean that they're bad at what they do, but you might feel the need to work with someone from a more agnostic or skeptical worldview. If this sounds like what you're looking for, check out my website for more information and schedule a free consultation at www.bjonescounseling.com.

Medford, Oregon therapist: Kel Lash, licensed professional counselor
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Kel Lash

Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, LPC, CLC
I love working with people who desire to live from their hearts. I'm passionate about self- forgiveness (letting go of meaning) and correcting the myths of forgiveness that we have been taught. People who desire to see the unconditional love in themselves and others and let go of meaning they make in their minds that blocks them from being their happiest, most peaceful, authentic selves. If you have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges that seem to hold you back in life, and want a way to let these thoughts go and live in the present moment, I'm likely a great fit for you. Clients describe me as calm, compassionate, intuitive and out of the box.

Hey there, I'm Ben Mosebach and I'm not your typical therapist. I'm not here to offer you clichés or empty promises. What I offer is authenticity and the potential to profoundly impact your life. My approach to therapy is straightforward and down-to-earth. Theoretically I am rooted in the humanistic perspectives encompassing aspects of existentialism, gestalt and person centered therapy. I'm here to roll up my sleeves and get to work with you, tackling whatever challenges you're facing head-on.

Portland has a strong therapy culture deeply intertwined with its progressive values, with high demand for therapists who specialize in LGBTQ+ identity, non-traditional relationship structures, trauma, and social-justice-informed approaches to mental health. The city's visible homelessness crisis and political tensions have contributed to significant community-level anxiety, and therapists here frequently address activist burnout, moral injury, and eco-anxiety alongside more traditional presenting concerns. Oregon Health & Science University provides major institutional mental health resources, complemented by a dense network of independent practitioners across the inner eastside, Hawthorne, and Northwest Portland. Oregon's relatively permissive telehealth laws make it particularly easy to access care from across the state.
