AI is everywhere. You can’t scroll, type, or even breathe on the internet without bumping into some new tech that’s supposedly going to “revolutionize” your life. But for a lot of people, AI doesn’t feel like a revolution—it feels like a threat.
You’re not alone if you’ve ever wondered: Am I going to be replaced? How do I keep up with all of this? What’s even real anymore?
Let’s talk about it.
The Great AI Freakout
If you feel a little unsteady watching AI take over everything from customer service to creative work, welcome to the club. A lot of people are feeling the same way—especially younger workers who are already struggling with burnout and uncertainty.
A recent piece from The Times revealed that Gen Z employees are particularly worried about job stability in an AI-driven workforce. They’re stressed. They’re disillusioned. And honestly? They’re not wrong to feel that way. (Read more here)
On top of that, over-reliance on AI is making workplaces feel less… human. The Financial Times recently reported that AI-heavy workflows are actually making employees lonelier, less engaged, and—surprise, surprise—less happy. (Check it out)
So, what do we do? How do we keep from losing our minds (and our sense of self) in a world that’s changing at lightning speed?
How to Stay Grounded When Everything Feels Up in the Air
1. Learn Like a Machine (But Stay Human)
AI learns non-stop. You should too. The difference? You get to choose what matters to you. Instead of panicking about being replaced, double down on the things AI can’t do—creativity, leadership, emotional intelligence. Stay curious. Keep evolving.
2. Remember: People Still Need People
Just because AI can generate emails, analyze trends, and almost write poetry doesn’t mean human connection is obsolete. Your coworkers, clients, and audience still crave real, messy, beautifully human interactions. Lean into that.
3. Put Tech in Its Place
AI should be a tool, not a master. Set boundaries. Automate what makes sense, but don’t let algorithms dictate your entire life. Log off when you need to. Protect your mental space.
4. Talk to Someone Who Gets It
If AI anxiety is hitting hard, don’t sit with it alone. Whether it’s a coach, a mentor, or just a friend who won’t roll their eyes when you say “I think ChatGPT is making me existential,” find support. Processing change is easier when you’re not doing it in a vacuum.
The Future Is Unwritten (And You Get a Pen, Too)
AI isn’t going anywhere. But neither are you.
Technology will evolve. Jobs will shift. But your ability to adapt, to connect, to create meaning in the madness? That’s what makes you irreplaceable.
And if you need a little guidance along the way? That’s what I’m here for.
P.S. If you’re reading this and thinking “Well, at least AI can’t coach me through my existential dread yet,” you’re right. Human connection still wins.
