Telehealth psychology support for life adjustments, trauma, relationships, and body issues. With technology, you can experience all the benefits of in-person therapy in the comfort and privacy of your own home and have continuity of care when you travel. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to location, work, children at home, lifestyle, or other practical or personal reasons. You may be located abroad or be a professional who travels, telehealth allows you to get the support and resources and meet you where your life is at. While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing via Zoom and, on occasion, telephone sessions. I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting. Most, if not all, of my clients, find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient. They allow for the comfort and safety of therapy in your own space, and no travel time is often less vulnerable than needing to go to an office. Research of multiple studies finds that online therapy is equally effective as in-person for most cases. That being said I always advocate for what works best for each individual and it is wonderful to have choices to find your best path whichever that may be. If you are not tech-savvy or anxious about using technology, I'll make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that is easy to use, and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children, and/or family members or roommates. Please plan this out in advance so you have quiet and privacy during your session. Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow themselves a few breaths and get settled into being present and in the head/body space for your session. Headphones or AirPods can often make audio clearer or provide more privacy, but are not necessary. Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, connect from wherever you may be, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to receive support no matter where you are. You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting and supporting, and you may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.

Online therapy doesn’t have to feel distant or impersonal. In fact, my clients often tell me our virtual sessions feel just as warm, authentic, and deeply connected as if we were sitting in the same room. I specialize in helping healthcare providers, executives, and high-achieving professionals who feel burned out, stuck, or quietly overwhelmed—especially folks who’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else they’ve lost touch with themselves. My approach combines evidence-based behavioral science, genuine empathy, and practical strategies designed specifically for your unique challenges and goals. Whether you’re at home, in your office, or somewhere in between, our work together will help you step out of survival mode, reconnect with your values, and create meaningful, lasting change.

*Waitlist for psychological evaluations is roughly 4 months. Waitlist for new therapy clients is at least 2-3 months. My practice specializes in online psychological evaluations for pre-teens (11-12), teens (13-17), and adults (18+) for autism and ADHD. I also provide teletherapy to work with adult neurodivergent clients as they adjust to a new diagnosis, unmask, manage accommodations, reframe the way they have been comparing themselves to neurotypical people, etc. As an autistic psychologist, I personally have worked through many of these challenges. I offer psychological evaluations, individual therapy, family and couples therapy online, and as a PSYPACT authorization holder I am currently able to practice telehealth in 43 states.

Dr. Ruth Viehoff

Psychologist, PsyD, HSPP
Hello, I'm Dr. Ruth Viehoff, and it's a pleasure to virtually meet you. I specialize in working with anxious overachievers, perfectionists, and adults with ADHD. My clients are often worriers and people who struggle to meet their own exacting standards, even though to an outsider's view, they may appear to have it all together. Often my clients are so concerned and caring towards others, but can struggle to care for themselves and advocate for their own needs. In therapy, we work to introduce self-compassion and shift personal standards that may get in the way of enjoying your life. While I'm physically located in Indianapolis, IN, the majority of my clients see me virtually. Whether you live in Indiana, New York, Massachusetts, or a participating Psypact state, I'd love to connect with you and help you to live a more authentic, embodied, and joyful life. Reach out to me today to book a free consultation call!

I believe therapy is a collaborative process. Your story needs to be fully heard to begin the healing process. Together, we explore ways to help you live and act according to your values. I help you develop skills for today to allow you to live mindfully in the present, make peace with the past, and create a life of meaning and purpose for the future. I hold board certifications in health psychology and behavioral sleep medicine, which demonstrate the highest level of competency in these fields. These certifications allow me to help people with stressors that impact the body and mind. My grandmother, an indigenous healer, is a prominent presence in my life. She inspired my love of holistic healing practices. When appropriate, I frequently integrate clinical hypnosis and somatic approaches to help clients strengthen the mind-body connection.
