WHY DO I REACT LIKE THIS?

Lulu AlRashdi

Have you ever walked away from a conversation and thought:
“Why did I react like that?”
Maybe you became defensive. Shut down. Got angry. Wanted to leave. Or said something that didn’t actually express what you were feeling.
We’re often quick to judge the reaction:
“I’m too emotional.”
“I’m terrible at confrontation.”
“Why can’t I communicate normally?”
But I think there’s a more interesting question:
What just happened inside me?
Sometimes what’s happening in the present touches something familiar — a belief, an emotional wound, or a protective response our nervous system has learned.
Instead of asking “What’s wrong with me?”, we can begin getting curious:
What did I feel? What did I believe that moment meant about me? What was I trying to protect?
I wrote more about this in my first Feel Free, Live Fully article:

I’d love to hear your thoughts: What have your reactions taught you about yourself?
