Grief is a natural and personal response to loss. It is important to allow and feel the emotions that arise, sadness, anger, frustration, confusion, or even numbness. In our work together, I create space for the full range of these experiences. Rather than trying to “move on,” I support clients in gently processing their loss, making sense of what it means to them, and finding a way to stay connected to what matters while continuing to live forward with greater presence and care.

Loralee Schultz
Registered Psychotherapist, BSc Psyc, MACP, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) CRPO & CCPA & BCACC Member
Grief is a deeply isolating experience, and our culture frequently rushes people to 'move on' before they are truly ready. In my practice, I believe that loss cannot be neatly resolved or fixed; instead, it needs to be safely carried and witnessed. I offer a gentle, non-judgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are, with all of the messy, unpredictable emotions that accompany profound loss. Together, we will honour your timeline, process the emotional weight at your own pace, and gently explore how to carry your grief forward without losing your connection to yourself.

Grief is a deeply personal experience that can arise from the loss of a loved one, relationship changes, health challenges, or significant life transitions. I offer a compassionate and supportive space where individuals can express their emotions freely, without pressure to “move on” or heal within a timeline.
My approach to grief counselling is trauma-informed and paced, helping clients process loss while restoring emotional stability and inner strength. Nightingale Counselling
Counsellor/Therapist, RCC, MSW
Grief is one of the most profound and disorienting experiences a person can face, and at Nightingale Counselling we recognize that it is not a linear process but a deeply personal one shaped by each individual's relationships, cultural background, spiritual beliefs, and sources of meaning. Our therapists are trained to hold space for the full complexity of loss, including not just sadness but the anger, guilt, anxiety, and disbelief that grief so often carries alongside it, and we offer specialized support for a wide range of experiences including spousal loss, suicide bereavement, pet loss, complicated grief, and violent or unanticipated loss. At Nightingale, grief counselling is a collaborative and culturally attuned process, with the goal of helping clients move from the overwhelming disorientation of loss toward acceptance, relief, and a renewed sense of hope.

Grief is a natural response to a loss. Losses often involve a death of a partner, family member, friend, or pet. Feelings associated with grief vary but can include sadness, anger, guilt, regret, and helplessness. The way in which individuals adapt to a loss depends on a variety of factors such as coping style, age, beliefs, and personality variables. In order to assist clients with working through their grief issues I largely work from the task theory perspective developed by psychologist J.W. Worden. His model is referred to as the Four Tasks of Mourning.
The Tasks of Mourning are as follows:
Task 1: To accept the reality of the loss.
Task 2: To process the pain of grief.
Task 3: To adjust to a life without the deceased.
Adjusting adaptively often includes making external, internal, and spiritual adjustments.
Task 4: To maintain a continuing bond with the deceased while embarking on a new life.
Individuals experiencing grief may be struggling with at least one of the four tasks of mourning. A major reason for the model’s effectiveness is that the tasks imply that clients can actively do something to manage their grief symptoms. As we collaboratively explore the tasks of mourning and identify the areas that are challenging to work through, clients gain an understanding of how their thoughts, emotions, or behaviours have prevented them from adaptively moving through the grief process.
Clients may also notice how their coping styles have prevented them from grieving effectively with past losses. As they move through the tasks of mourning they often develop a sense of control over their lives, which is a crucial step in alleviating feelings of helplessness. Additionally, clients give themselves the permission to embark on a new life while finding meaningful ways of staying connected to what was lost.

Jennifer Masters
Life Coach, Ba Psychology, CF Thanatology, D Kessler – Grief Grief Coach Certif,M Devine – Grief Coach Certif
Grief can affect the whole person: thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, identity, boundaries, and how someone understands themselves and the world after loss.
As a certified grief coach with formal education in thanatology and multiple grief-specific certifications, I support adults dealing with loss in plain, practical, human language. Clients have room to speak honestly about what they are thinking, feeling, doing, questioning, and carrying.
I also provide grief education and practical tools, so clients can better understand their reactions, reduce overwhelm, set boundaries, communicate needs, and manage daily life after loss. My support is compassionate, direct, and grounded in grief education rather than psychobabble or one-size-fits-all advice.

Inspiring Change Counselling
Counsellor/Therapist, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC)
Grief doesn't follow a timeline, and it doesn't always look the way people expect — it can show up as anger, numbness, guilt, or an ache that's hard to put into words. Whether you're mourning a death, a relationship, a version of your life you expected to have, or something else entirely, your loss deserves to be taken seriously. Therapy offers a space to grieve at your own pace, without pressure to move on before you're ready, while also helping you find a way forward that honors what you've been through.

Grief and loss can feel overwhelming, unpredictable, and deeply personal. While it may come from the loss of a loved one, grief can also arise from the end of a relationship, changes in identity, unmet expectations, or other significant life transitions. You might notice waves of sadness, anger, numbness, or disconnection, and it can feel isolating when others don’t fully understand the depth of what you’re experiencing.
In our work together, we’ll create a space where your grief is allowed, without pressure to move on or feel differently than you do. We’ll gently explore your experience, making room for both the pain of the loss and the meaning it holds. Using a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach, we’ll also support your nervous system in processing grief, helping you feel more grounded and better able to carry your loss over time.
I draw from approaches such as IFS, ACT, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based CBT, and somatic-based practices, tailoring our work to your unique needs. Together, we’ll focus on building compassionate ways to navigate your grief, while supporting connection, self-understanding, and healing in your own time.
I offer both in-person and virtual counselling sessions. You’re welcome to reach out or visit my website to book a free 20-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

Darren Williamson
Counsellor/Therapist, RCC (#23397)
There is no "correct" way to experience loss or grief, nor is there a "wrong" way. You can feel grief/loss for a variety of reasons: maybe you lost a close friend or family member, a beloved pet, or experienced a separation or estrangement from an important relationship. Through therapy, we will process your grief by accepting the existence of the loss, exploring the emotions attached (including processing any associated trauma), and adjusting to life afterward, while integrating the impact the relationship had on your life.
