Hannah Bickle | Self, Relationships, Emotions
Registered Psychotherapist, RP (Q)
Periods of change often invite us to reevaluate who we are, what we want, and where we are headed. Whether you are navigating a career change, the end of a relationship, a move, or another significant life transition, it is natural to feel uncertain or overwhelmed.
In therapy, we can create space to explore what this transition means for you, helping you move forward with greater clarity, self-understanding, and confidence.

Marg Totten Counselling Therapy
Licensed Mental Health Counsellor, MA, MPCC, CPCC, LCT
Are You in the Midst of Change? Are you frustrated, lost, stuck or having trouble getting clarity to make good choices? If so, It's time to take a second look at your resilience and ability to create peace and happiness again. Life brings us many times of change. The men and women I counsel and coach are wise, competent and capable. Like you! You are probably used to being self-sufficient, and able to work things out for yourself. Having experienced change and handled it in the past, you're probably also very self-aware and insightful. If this is you, not being able to get a handle on this present crisis or life change may be causing you to beat yourself up. You don't understand where the "you" that you know has gone, or why you're feeling frozen, alone, and unable to take the next step forward.
It's hard to risk letting someone in now, after sheer willpower has been keeping you going. My experience with change has shown me that too much change, too fast can temporarily de-rail even the most resourceful souls. The key word is temporarily. With a specific plan and some new coping tools you'll soon be back to feeling like yourself again. If you are longing to move forward, I have been there and I understand. I've made personal and career decisions that have ended up giving me more fulfillment than I ever thought possible. But I had to deal with the self-doubt and fear first.

Major changes—like starting a new career, moving to a new city, becoming a parent, or retiring—can be disorienting, even if they are positive. These transitions often involve a "middle ground" where the old way of living is gone, but the new way hasn't quite settled yet. We work through the stress and identity shifts that come with these milestones, helping you navigate the uncertainty with resilience and a clear sense of purpose.

Lincoln Stoller
Counsellor/Therapist, PhD, CHt, CCPCP
whether you're aware of it or not, life is an ongoing transition. "If you're not busy being born you're busy dying," as Bob Dylan wrote. Don't wait until the end of your life, or the edge of the plateau, to consider what you'll do next. If you have a sense of value and purpose, then whatever you're doing is advancing you toward potentially unachievable goals, which is as it should be. Never be comfortable doing nothing, and don't be comfortable with small things. Growing up means becoming yourself, and retirement is just another word for being free to fearlessly work on what's most import.
What we call life transitions are just the changes you recognize; see these as opportunities to reassert yourself. Don't expect all opportunities to polished and ready to roll; don't expect their benefits to be obvious. Just as discovering a raw diamond is only the beginning, consider all the paths ahead.
Death and dissolution are life transitions of the most difficult sort but, dark as they are, they can also offer great opportunity. The opportunity of loss is the opportunity to recognize value, connection, and purpose. It is inevitable that our connection to things and people weaken our drive to achieve and to connect with others. The loss of a person or an opportunity can be crippling, but you must recognize that there are many people in even worse circumstances, and we all suffer when we ignore the plight of others and take what we have for granted.
If you focus on becoming greater and being of service to others in some way, even if it's just to knock some sense into them, then you will connect with our shared, larger purpose. All life transitions should be growing transitions.
You are incompressible, like water. Let what squeezes you extend you higher. If you can't do what you did before, then do something new, extending what you've learned. Do not worry about creating products, be an inspiration. Whatever you do, let it become part of your character and make you stronger.
