Ekta Abhay Lather (She/Her)

Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychotherapist
I became a therapist because I know what it's like to keep moving while carrying more than you let on. I'm Ekta — a Registered Psychotherapist in Toronto working with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and BIPOC and Indigenous clients who are tired of holding everything together while quietly unravelling inside. My clients are thoughtful, self-aware, and deeply capable. They're also exhausted in a way that rest doesn't fix. What I offer isn't a formula. It's a real conversation — one that gets underneath the noise and into what's actually driving the patterns. That's where change begins.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

Therapy Sessions Ekta Abhay Lather Practice Description
Stress doesn't always look like a breakdown. Sometimes it looks like a full schedule, a body that won't settle, and a mind that can't stop running through everything at once. Many of the people I work with have spent years being the capable one — the one who manages, adapts, and keeps going. What brings them to therapy isn't usually a single crisis. It's the slow accumulation of carrying too much, for too long, without enough support. My approach is grounded in the belief that real change happens beneath the surface. We don't just work on symptoms — we work on the nervous system patterns, the core beliefs, and the emotional habits that keep recreating the same experiences. When those shift, everything shifts. Sessions are collaborative and evidence-based, drawing from ACT, DBT-informed skills, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I work with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and BIPOC and Indigenous clients in a space that is affirming, inclusive, and adapted to your actual life — not a generic model of what healing is supposed to look like. In-person in Toronto. Virtual across Ontario and Canada.
