Asking for help is challenging enough, and I believe that the online format removes some of the other stressors normally associated with beginning therapy. One of the most important "ingredients" for success in therapy is feeling comfortable in the therapy setting. With online therapy, clients enjoy the convenience of meeting with me from wherever they feel most comfortable. Online therapy also eliminates the need for a commute to an office or sitting in a waiting area. With some of the stress eliminated, we can really get to work!

New York City, New York therapist: Ayden Ferstenberg, psychologist
Somatic

Ayden Ferstenberg

Psychologist, PsyD
I’m a licensed psychologist specializing in couples therapy, sex therapy, and individual therapy, including trauma therapy. I work especially well with high achievers, people-pleasers, and intellectualizers who may understand themselves deeply and know what they want to do differently, yet still feel stuck when it comes to making meaningful change.    My approach combines practical, actionable skills with experiential therapy that helps uncover the deeper emotional patterns keeping you stuck. Rather than simply gaining more insight into your history or collecting more tools to try, we work toward creating a different experience that allows you to dismantle the internal blocks that get in your way and meaningfully apply the changes so we are building the life you want for yourself. I also have specialized training in psycho-oncology and geropsychology and bring a trauma-informed, sex-positive, and relational perspective to my work.

Dyani Saxby

Psychologist, Ph.D., ABPP, DBSM
I believe therapy is a collaborative process. Your story needs to be fully heard to begin the healing process. Together, we explore ways to help you live and act according to your values. I help you develop skills for today to allow you to live mindfully in the present, make peace with the past, and create a life of meaning and purpose for the future. I hold board certifications in health psychology and behavioral sleep medicine, which demonstrate the highest level of competency in these fields. These certifications allow me to help people with stressors that impact the body and mind. My grandmother, an indigenous healer, is a prominent presence in my life. She inspired my love of holistic healing practices. When appropriate, I frequently integrate clinical hypnosis and somatic approaches to help clients strengthen the mind-body connection.

Imagine what it would be like to feel at ease, confident, and in charge again. To worry less and live more. There is hope. I can help you get there. People want fullness of love in life (in work, relationship and purpose), but get stymied by anger, anxiety, or existential dilemmas. Sometimes talking about it isn't enough to transform it. To make significant change, after we name emotions and explore their sensations, we can build a new somatic relationship. By compassionately attending to old habits, then invoking new awareness of how to thrive, we liberate ourselves from past patterns and welcome new joys. If you like contemplative exploration of the roots of your issues, guidance to find your inner ah-ha!, and support for your own wisdom to lead you forward, give me a call. I believe the energy we call Divine (or Source, Consciousness, Godde, All) is within you and around you, ready to speak. You have the answers within you, I'm here to help you find them- and implement them.

Online therapy doesn’t have to feel distant or impersonal. In fact, my clients often tell me our virtual sessions feel just as warm, authentic, and deeply connected as if we were sitting in the same room. I specialize in helping healthcare providers, executives, and high-achieving professionals who feel burned out, stuck, or quietly overwhelmed—especially folks who’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else they’ve lost touch with themselves. Telehealth psychology support for life adjustments, trauma, relationships, and body issues. With technology, you can experience all the benefits of in-person therapy in the comfort and privacy of your own home and have continuity of care when you travel. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to location, work, children at home, lifestyle, or other practical or personal reasons. You may be located abroad or be a professional who travels, telehealth allows you to get the support and resources and meet you where your life is at. While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing via Zoom and, on occasion, telephone sessions. I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting. Most, if not all, of my clients, find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient. They allow for the comfort and safety of therapy in your own space, and no travel time is often less vulnerable than needing to go to an office. Research of multiple studies finds that online therapy is equally effective as in-person for most cases. That being said I always advocate for what works best for each individual and it is wonderful to have choices to find your best path whichever that may be. If you are not tech-savvy or anxious about using technology, I'll make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that is easy to use, and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children, and/or family members or roommates. Please plan this out in advance so you have quiet and privacy during your session. Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow themselves a few breaths and get settled into being present and in the head/body space for your session. Headphones or AirPods can often make audio clearer or provide more privacy, but are not necessary. Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, connect from wherever you may be, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to receive support no matter where you are. You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting and supporting, and you may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.
